What is DND / NCPR?
India's Do Not Disturb registry (National Customer Preference Register), where people opt out of commercial calls and SMS.
Definition
The National Customer Preference Register lets mobile users block all commercial communication or choose categories (banking, real estate, education, health and so on). Registration is done by SMS to 1909, the operator's app or the TRAI DND app.
Why it matters
Calling a DND-registered number for promotion without their consent can lead to complaints and penalties.
